How does the perfume notes database work?
Every fragrance in Dupejoy is broken down into its notes. Tap any note to see the scents built on it; tap more than one to narrow down. Switch between 'match all' (only fragrances with every note you picked) and 'match any' (fragrances with at least one). Each result comes with the affordable dupe that shares its key notes.
Can I search fragrances by a combination of notes?
Yes. Select two or more notes and set it to 'match all' to find only the fragrances that carry every one, for example vanilla and tonka and amber together. That is the fastest way to pin down a very specific scent profile and its dupes.
How many notes are in the database?
We track 145 distinct notes across 142 designer and niche fragrances, from the most common (vanilla, musk, jasmine) down to the rare one-offs. The database grows as we add fragrances.
Does sharing a note mean two perfumes smell the same?
No. Notes are the building blocks, but proportion, quality and the other notes around them change everything. A shared note means two scents have common ground worth exploring, not that they're interchangeable. The match score on each dupe is a better guide to how close two fragrances actually read.
