How the finder works
How does the match score work?
It's how much of the original's key note structure the dupe shares, on a 0 to 100 scale. A 90 percent match reads very close on skin; a 75 percent match captures the main idea with some differences in the dry-down. We only show matches of 60 percent or higher. See the full method on our methodology page.
Does a dupe smell exactly like the original?
It shares the signature that people recognise, the key notes running through the heart and base. The finer materials, the longevity and the way it dries down over hours can differ, so a dupe is never billed as identical. For the impression everyone notices, a good match gets you most of the way there.
Are these real, legal fragrances?
Yes. Each dupe is a legitimate fragrance sold by its own brand under its own name that happens to share key notes with a pricier scent, not a counterfeit that copies another brand's packaging. More on the difference in our FAQ.
